Humiliated by a shopping
trolley/cart!
Being a lone disabled mum and, having to navigate a pushchair/stroller and a shopping trolley/cart on a basic journey to the local supermarket resulted in absolute chaos and despair. It is impossible to steer a pushchair/ stroller and a shopping cart/ trolley at the same and on your own. In my case they were running in opposite directions. The humiliation was overwhelming and also a stark realisation that I could never shop or go shopping on my own.
Challanges of Shopping
Shopping is such a simple and quick task for most people. However, for me it was a wake-up call to create something so that I could be more independent. In my moments of despair, I created Bug Grip. By literally placing two hair clips back-to- back and an elastic band in the middle, this was the start of my innovation journey to enable caregivers' parents and disabled people independence, freedom, resilience and more importantly, “an extra pair of hands when you need it.”

Bug Grip is a universal connecting device originally designed to clamp a pushchair to a shopping trolley on a routine weekly, or daily trip to the supermarket.
